| The silicon prostheses are of two types : one is the jelly silicon and is used in sheath. It is applied to soft places, regions like the breast. But here complication risk increases if the silicon leaks as a result of pressure or because of the formation of a capsule. Complications like ache, capsule formation and asymmetry may form. Other silicon prostheses otherwise are of tough consistency. These are not used where softness is required. For the hips in general soft prosthesis with silicon jelly is preferred.
For the fixing of these prostheses in place the patient can participate in physical activities in limit for 6-8 weeks. For the prosthesis not to move from place bandages are used. In this period if sit and stood up roughly the silicon has the risk of bursting. |
